One Short Dress, One Sweet Day

So, I found this cute little black skater dress at Target—covered in tiny yellow flowers—and it totally surprised me. I’m not usually a short dress person, but this one actually worked. Plus, I got way more compliments than I expected, so that’s always a win!

I paired it with gold heeled sandals (because, why not?), and this red purse with the most perfect leather—my sister lifted me that little gem. It gave the whole look a fun pop of color. I let my curls do their thing and went with a glossy lip instead of red—maybe less bold, but it gave me that fresh, easy vibe I was going for.

The day was boiling hot, like full-on summer heat. We shot photos on this nature trail where there’s a big eagle statue right in the middle—kind of creepy when you suddenly turn the corner, but I had fun goofing around it anyway. The sun peeked through the trees and hit me with this perfect spotlight moment. And you know what? Sometimes you’ve just gotta lean into that spotlight instead of waiting for someone else to hand it to you. Qualify yourself.

After all the posing and sweating, we treated ourselves to a classic Sam’s Club hot dog and lemonade combo. Honestly, it felt like the perfect little reward for a fun day.

Black can sometimes wash me out, so I’m learning bright accessories are my best friends. That red purse? Total game changer. And someday, I hope to pass it on to Hazel as a vintage piece with all the sentimental love it holds.

Short dresses don’t usually love me back, but this one definitely did.

A small dress, a sunny day, and a whole lot of good vibes.
