SIS has a unique and immediate opportunity for an Outreach Specialist to support the Air Force on-site at the WPAFB High Performance Computer Center (HPC) on Wright-Patterson, AFB in Dayton, OH.

Summary:

The Outreach Specialist is a unique role that provides support to enterprise outreach activities run by the program office in order to support the HPCMP and represent the DSRCs in maintaining continual professional interchange with HPC technology-oriented representatives of industry and government.

Responsibilities / Duties:

 
  • Proactively seek and implement outreach efforts.
  • Participate in and/or support formal and informational exchange meetings, workshops, seminars and conferences.
  • Work with potential and new customers in addressing account process, allocation of hours and helping them identify their correct S/AAA.
  • Develop, produce and distribute information and/or items to promote HPC usage among the DoD’s scientist and engineering community consistent with DSRC Strategic Goals.
  • Participate in and/or support formal and informal exchange meetings, workshops, seminars and conferences in conjunction with the Government Outreach Manager.
  • Work with potential and new customers in addressing the account process, allocation of hours and helping them identify their correct S/AAA. The person will also brief and discuss program specifics through local meetings, onsite visits and Virtual presentations representing the entire HPCMP program.
  • Coordinate DSRC tours of both the unclassified and classified locations at AFRL and arrange for all logistic related matters.       
  • Collaborate with the AFRL CAG Tour Lead on visits and tour requests for the command.
  • Develop, produce and distribute information and/or items to promote HPC usage among the DoD’s scientist and engineering community consistent with DSRC Strategic Goals.
  • Support DCD Open House initiatives throughout the AFRL community which could require travel.
  • Facilitate and support Ribbon cutting, User Group and other miscellaneous events required by the DSRC.
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years related experience in similar type positions such as Outreach Specialist, Relationship Manager, Partnership Development Specialist, Public Outreach Specialist, Community Engagement Specialist, or similar roles, that would enable the candidate to hit the ground running.
  • This unique role requires a person with sales ability, who likes talking to people, has a friendly, outgoing & professional personality, and the ability to network and interface with a wide range of personality types.
  • Must possess a comfortable amount of Technical Acumen to be able to discuss High Performance Computing (HPC) with a variety of general people through users of the system. Will not need to know exact details but should know enough to have a conversation and supply the answer that gets people to say “Yes”.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills, along with the ability to represent SIS professionally by acting as our “ambassador”.
  • Possess an understanding of PR & Marketing basics, as the Outreach Specialist will be the public face of the HPC Center (DSRC).
  • MUST be willing to lead tours that come to Wright-Patterson AFB, and travel throughout the U.S. to attend & work Trade Shows, meet with clients such as NOAA, Department of Energy, Boeing, GE, etc. SIS will provide the Outreach Specialist with a corporate Amex to cover travel expenses.
  • U.S. Citizenship is Mandatory.
  • Some travel is required, up to 50%.
