The Grant Writer is a critical member of our development team, responsible for identifying, researching, and writing grant proposals to secure funding from foundations, government agencies, and other institutional donors. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of workforce development and healthcare-related funding priorities, as well as a proven track record of successful grant submissions. Key Responsibilities Research grant opportunities aligned with the organization's mission, goals, and current programs. Write compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports tailored to funders' guidelines and interests. Collaborate with program managers and leadership to gather relevant program data, budgets, success stories, and outcomes for inclusion in proposals. Track all grant activity using a grant calendar, ensuring timely submission of applications and reports. Maintain relationships with existing funders through timely reporting and consistent communication. Work with finance staff to develop accurate proposal budgets and ensure grant compliance. Monitor trends in philanthropic and government funding related to healthcare workforce development. Support organization-wide fundraising initiatives, including case statements, donor reports, and content for annual appeals or newsletters. Participate in team meetings, strategic planning, and other cross-departmental efforts to align fundraising with organizational priorities. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in English, Public Health, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field (Master's preferred). Minimum 3 years of professional grant writing experience, preferably in healthcare or workforce development. Demonstrated success in securing local, state, and/or federal funding, including HRSA, NYS Department of Health, and private foundations. Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. Strong project management and organizational abilities, with attention to detail and deadlines. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Familiarity with healthcare terminology, workforce equity initiatives, and Medicaid is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and grant management tools (e.g., Salesforce, GrantHub, or similar).
