Job Description

As a Custom Outside Sales Representative for Carter Lumber, you are responsible for developing strong relationships with new and existing contractor and builder clients. Your goal is to provide exceptional customer service while upholding the values of Carter Lumber. This position includes a range of responsibilities that ensure customer satisfaction and company growth

Responsibilities
  • Meet with new and existing customers to understand needs and provide solutions.
  • Keep management updated on order statuses and customer needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of leads, sales, and customer accounts.
  • Read blueprints and assist in preparing material take-off lists.
  • Provide accurate and timely quotes and proposals to customers.
  • Ensure quotes balance customer value with profit margins.
  • Collaborate with inside sales to confirm pricing, delivery, and invoicing.
  • Provide reliable product information, applications, and specifications.
  • Visit job sites regularly for support and verification of product delivery.
  • Stay informed on building practices, from framing to finishing materials.
  • Maintain knowledge of local codes, new products, and specifications.
  • Develop strong relationships with vendors, sales teams, and store personnel.
  • Monitor competitor pricing, services, and marketing to ensure competitiveness.
  • Resolve customer issues in a timely, professional manner.
  • Assist with pulling and delivering products to job sites when needed.
  • Support and train internal sales teams in the outside sales process.
