Position Overview The Bronx District Attorney’s Office seeks a qualified staff member to serve the diverse Bronx community. The Crime Victims Assistance Bureau (CVAB) is looking for a homicide advocate to provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and advocacy for homicide survivors, coordinating with law enforcement, the criminal justice system, medical examiner’s office, and others. The position reports to the Deputy Director and Director of CVAB. Responsibilities Interview victims and families to assess needs. Assist homicide survivors with navigating the Medical Examiner’s Office, liaise with detectives, and explain the criminal justice process. Help clients complete and file victim compensation claims. Prepare correspondence and forms for entitlements. Advocate with public and private agencies. Escort clients to court and collaborate with attorneys. Manage case data and prepare statistical reports. Perform fieldwork as required. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Baccalaureate Degree required; BSW preferred. Prior advocacy experience required, preferably with families affected by homicide. Knowledge of Bronx neighborhoods and populations preferred. Flexible schedule, confidentiality, strong communication, organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office are essential. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant community work, or High school diploma and six years of relevant experience, or Equivalent education and experience with at least one year of relevant experience.
